In welcoming the new school year 2015-2016, on 31/8/2015, Mr. Jimmy Thai, a Vietnamese American with two individual donors and VMG Media Corporation staff in collaboration with Education and Social Affairs Magazine has donated a three-classroom kindergarten school in rural mountain of Dong Tam village, Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province, with total investment of 322 million VND ($14.6K USD).
Mr. Tran Van Hoa, Provincial Commissioner and District Party Chief, spoke at the ceremony, "The generous donations and kind hearts of philanthropists have helped alleviating the District’s infrastructure difficulties in providing preschool education for age-5 children." He also said the District still struggles to build more schools in remote, mountainous locations, and welcomes all sponsors, donors in collaborations for building more kindergarten and elementary schools for needed children. He emphasized to local leaders and school administrators that they must purposely operate and maintain this gifted school. Speaking at
the Grand Opening ceremony, Mr. Thai thanked Bac Quang district leaders, Bureau
of Education and Training, the people Dong Tam village, and other donors for
their united efforts in executing his “Build
a School – Leave a Legacy” vision for Vietnam. Recognizing the brand new
school still needs a kitchen quarter and toilet facility, he promised to continue
seeking funding for the construction and pledged to support 20 million VND ($1K
USD).
In this round
of funding, in addition to supporting Mr. Thai’s school construction, VMG Media
Corporation donated 25 million VND ($1.2K USD) to build a fence around the
school and presented gifts such as clothing, school books, toys, comics and
packaged food to all students with financial difficulties. In the last
three years, the company has collaborated with Educational Bureaus, and the
Education and Social Affairs magazine publisher to survey, select, and support
the construction of 16 classrooms in hard-to-reach mountainous communes in the
provinces Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Bac Quang.

scheduled for November 2015 if funding is secured from donors in America,
Germany, Canada, and Vietnam.
Currently, the "“Build a School – Leave a Legacy” project is working four more schools in Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Ca Mau, and Binh Phuoc with Project Leaders from Vietnam, Germany, and America.
